Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

I was so excited when I saw this palette on Urban Decay's website while still searching for the Naked Palette. It really caught my eye because of how cute the packaging was. But when I looked at the products that were in the palette I was very impressed. According to Urban Decay's website the palette is designed "For the girl who works and plays hard - easy daytime neutrals, one vivid bright and a portable lip gloss ready for the office or an impromptu happy hour.

The Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette comes with four eyeshadows:
  • Woodstock, a hot pink best-selling shade
  • Verve, a pale oyster shimmer
  • Suspect, a coppery neutral
  • Darkhorse, a smoldering brown (from the much sought-after Naked Palette!)
Not only do you get four great eyeshadows you also get a Lip Junkie Lipgloss and 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Whiskey (Brown). My Mother loved the lipgloss as soon I opened it up she tried it on and decided to keep it lol. I will admit that Im not a fan of the brown eyeliner because it doesnt show well against my skin. But overall, I love it and definitely recommend it. I will create a look or show you swatches later. The price is the palette is $32 which is very reasonable in my opinion. I purchased mine from Sephora when they were having their 15% off sale last week.  I had to mention that the Naked Palette is finally back in stock so I had to get before it sells out again.

My Blush Collection

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Top row: Dollymix, Raizin and Taj Mahal
Bottom row: Sweet as Cocoa, Warm Berry and Exhibit A
The first blush is MAC's Dollymix. A beautiful, highly pigmented blush that looks great on my brown skin. When applied with a light hand, gives a nice pink/fuchsia flush, and a heavier hand gives an intense pop of color. It also has a very subtle, cool-toned shimmer. Definitely purchase it, the color and the effect are suited for the "bright" trend this spring.
From the MAC cosmetics website Raizin is matte golden reddish brown blush. I absolute love the sight of seeing this blush on WOC. It gives that radiant sunburnt look to dark tone skin.
This was my first blush as you can see from the pic I use it alot. As a brown skin girl I could not go wrong with the blush. This is my favorite everyday blush. I love how natural it looks on my skin tone. It looks so natural and goes with any eye or lip look. It is well pigmented and gives you a nice natural glow that lasts all day. It just looks really good all the time, no complaints i will definitely be repurchasing this product over again and recommend it.
Warm Berry Baked Blush impressed the hell out of me! Its super pigmented for a drugstore blush. You can see how pretty the color is from the pic I fell in love with this blush, on my skin it shows up a deep burgundy.
NARS Taj Mahal!!!!!!!!!!!!! This blush is not for someone that wants an understated classic makeup look .. this blush is BRIGHT ... it's orange .. it's B-O-L-D!! What I love about it .. it's unique. I LOVE IT.
Last and definitely not least is NARS Exhibit A!!!!!! Let me tell you I stalked this blush at Sephora for the longest time before I finally brought. I was so intimidated by the redness of the blush but I heard some many reviews about it I had to have it. It was one of the best makeup decisions that Ive ever made. This is a MUST HAVE BLUSH.
Dollymix, Raizin, Sweet as Cocoa, Warm Berry Taj Mahal and Exhibit A

Cuties on Duty: Lauren London & Teyana Taylor

Tyler Perry's premiere of Madea's Big Happy Family went down last night at The Dome at Arclight Hollywood. On the purple carpet was two beautiful ladies, Lauren London and Teyana Taylor. Let me start me Lauren first, she knows that she rocked the hell out of the form fitting dress and suede platform stilettos. This whole look did everything for me from head to toe, her makeup was flawless.

Now, to one of my favorites Teyana Taylor, she rocked the carpet with her signature big hair and sexy lips. She wore a long, black form fitted dress with a killer split. To bring some color to the dress she rocked a red suede paltform stiletto. Her eyebrows and lashes are working it as usual.

Juice 4 Life

Sunday, April 17, 2011

This is a special post for something that is near and dear to my heart. I have lost many family members and friends to the deadly disease called cancer. Juice 4 Life is a non -profit organization , founded by my good friend, Charnise Calhoun Carter and Lamont " Juice" Carter. The purpose of the organization is to provide resources, information and support to cancer patients in the Baltimore - Washington area as is pertains to alternative medicine and support. Juice 4 Life also makes it a top priority to aid and support the family of those who suffer from cancer. This is so important to me because I lost my Dad and my Grandmother to cancer and I would love to find a cure to this deadly disease. Please if you have a minute, please check out the foundation at http://www.juice4life.org/index.html.

New It Girl : Tika Sumpter

Friday, April 15, 2011

Tika Sumpter has emerged as one of Hollywood’s hottest It Girls. Recent guest stints on The Game and Gossip Girl may have propelled Ms. Sumpter into the spotlight, but this starlet is no newcomer to showbiz. Best known for portraying Layla Williamson on daytime soap, One Life to Live, the New York City native rose to fame through commercials and voice-over work, in addition to modeling. Currently on Gossip Girl, Ms. Sumpter plays Raina Thorpe, the daughter of Russell Thorpe and heiress to Thorpe Enterprises. As Jenna Rice on The Game, Ms. Sumpter portrays a supermodel turned recovering drug-addict. I personally love Tika's fashion sense and you have to blind not to notice thats she's beautiful.

My IMATS Review and Haul

Sunday, April 10, 2011

I attended IMATS and it was a great experience. It was my first time attending a makeup event so I wasnt sure what to expect. I knew to bring my patience, money and comfortable shoes lol. I failed to bring a snack like some of the other bloggers told me to and I paid the price. I was starving waiting in the Inglot line for 2 hours and I still didnt get anything (long story). I was able to go to all of the vendors that I had on my list except of Inglot but I digress. The first booth that I stopped by was Obessive Compulsive Cosmetics to pick up some lip tars. I heard good reviews about them so I was dying to check them out.

OCC Liptars

NSFW, Strumpet, Hoochie and Demure
The next booth that I stopped by was Royal & Langnickel to pick up some brushes. I purchased a 13 piece makeup brush kit for $25, it comes in a hot pink case and the brushes inside are black and hot pink. I also purchased a couple of other brushes there too. Their prices were very reasonable and the brushes seem to be of good quality.

Brow Shaper

Silk Taklon Brow Brush

Contour Brush

Angled Shader

Foundation Brush
The next booth was Stila, I have been seeing their long wear liquid color at Sephora for some time now. I purchased two in Caprice and Fiery. I love them so much I will be using them alot.

Caprice, Fiery
My next stop was Miss Adoro Eyelashes, they had a amazing deal they were selling 12 packs of human hair lashes for $24. I picked up some lashes and lash adhesive. I dont wear lashes alot but I might play around with these to make my eyes pop more.
My last and final purchase was at Graftobian, I purchased a High Definition Concealer Color Palette. Great purchase for $20.

Overall, I had a great time shopping for makeup at IMATS. I wasnt overly impressed but I got alot of what I wanted so I would call it a success. I'm now counting down to the Makeup Show in May.

I'm Ready for IMATS NY 2011

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Yes, the time has finally come to attend IMATS NY 2001 and I'm so excited about this experience. I've done my research on the companies that are selling their products at the show. I've made a list of the items that I want to buy and sample. I's so glad that I purchased my ticket online early because the show sold out on Saturday. I also didnt want to stand in long lines in order to get my ticket and from the sounds of it the place is going to be bananas. I plan on being there when the doors open but you never know I hate getting up early on weekends. Will my love of makeup give me the energy to be there at 8AM? It just might because I want to make sure that I'm able to check out most of the booths and a couple of classes. I have packed my makeup wipes, mirror, hand sanitizer and camera in my purse. I will definitely have on comfortable shoes because Im going to do alot of walking around. I will post pics and my review once I return home on Sunday.

Here's the list of vendors that I want to check out:
  • Beauty So Clean
  • Cozzette
  • Graftobian
  • Inglot
  • Miss Adoro Eyelashes
  • Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
  • Stila
  • Zuca

Rest In Peace - Dariel Pulliam

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Hairstylist and makeup artist to the stars, Dariel Pulliam, passed away Tuesday morning.
The 26-year-old, just one month shy of 27, had been hospitalized for a few weeks. Details are still forthcoming, but it’s believed that Dariel died from complications involving fluid in his lungs.
The stylist was often seen with his most famous Atlanta-area clients, including Neffe Pugh, Keyshia Coles’ sister and star of BET’s “Frankie & Neffe” reality show. Although his career was just taking off, Dariel had already made a significant impact on fashion and society in Atlanta.

Fly Guy - Pharrell Williams (Skateboard P)

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

I must admit I love a man that dresses fly and not afraid to take chances with fashion, If I had to describe that perfect man it would definitely be Pharrell. I'm a fan of his music and his style sense. He can go from the grungy skateboard look to high class fashion with ease.He never ceases to amaze me with his evolution of style. He is also the co-founder of the clothing brands Billioniare Boys Club and Ice Cream Clothing. So heres to you Mr. Williams, you rock my world. STAR TRAK!!!!!!!

Teyana Taylor - Vibe Magazine

I really like Teyana Taylor's style with the bigger than life hair and the tomboyish swag while still looking sexy. When I got my Vibe magazine this weekend, I was blown away when I saw the spread that she did. Honey, is serving it in the animal prints. HOTNESS!!!!! YOU BETTER WORK MS. TAYLOR!!!!!!

Fashion Trend - Leopard Print

Monday, April 4, 2011

One of 2011 fashion trends is said to be wild, and of course we will think about the leopard print fashion on the street. As a matter of fact, we can see leopard print fashion anytime, anywhere and I even think the leopard print will never be outdated. No matter it is a simple scarf, a dress, a miniskirt, a shorts, or boots, what we can’t neglected is the leopard print. Personally, I love leopard print and I love to see the hot celebs rocking it out.
